my mom had to get a treach on tuesday. She is doing well and is actually more mobile then I have seen her in at least a year. I know she will never get better, this disease is going to kill her but maybe now she will quit smoking for good!

Hi FoxyRoxy1!! Unfortunately..Yes! It will take her away from you.My Mom is still smokin' thru all this.No trach though.Just recovered from lung cancer treatment. She beat it. A small spot at bottom of her lung. She is 82. Mobile with no walker use.(but has one for rough days )She has quit the smokin' before for a year. More junk goin' on in her household and she started back up. She is a recovering alcoholic. Has had not a drop of the poison for 15-20 years.Doing the best she can to handle stresses. Likely your Mom too. Right? I bite my nails and stress eat. No drinkin'.Would be just like my Mom if I touched that poison again(did in my 20's). Do you live with your Mom? Or near by? We had to move to GA from FL. 120+ miles away from my Mom. Hate it! Just hate it. I'm sure your Mom knows you care and love her. My twin lives with my Mom right now. Later...take care FoxyRoxy1. Hi. I am newbie but I smoked most of my yrs off and on, etc. But when big issues came up, I wanted a smoke no matter what. They say its harder to quit than heroine. 4 yrs ago I had major surgery, they told me they were worried because smoking making yours bones porous and they worried the rods and clips would not stay. I told them to talk to me during surgery, smoking is bad & so on. But during recovery all I could taste was a cigarette ash like, it was awful and cough. That was it. Yet, it still crosses my mind but smelling other people a block away and remembering that cough & taste. It stuck with me. Thank God. Lilydil

LiLYDIL, I haven't smoked in 22 years and it feels good. But believe my there are day's that I would think about it. But I am feeling better about myself and I am so glad that I don't anymore. I can't walk up a hill without it making me tired and it's been a long time without smoking.....I see people smoking and I look at them and I tell them that it is bad stop for your health!!!I tell them that because I am a caring person.....
