I had surgery (3/29/2007) to replace a diseased bicuspid valve & root. Also repaired was an ascending aortic aneurysm (5.5) which had progressed into the arch. Also, 2 CABGs were performed on my coronary arteries because the blood was not flowing well, not because of blockages. I have had a tough time recovering from this surgery. I am still experiencing low energy, vision disturbances and feelings of pressure in my head. I can't think clearly anymore it seems. I constantly hear my heartbeat in my left ear. And, when I get a little too active, my heart beats in my throat. Is there anyone out there that has had surgery similar to mine? When I took my list of questions to my Cardio doctor, he told me to quit worrying and "go have a nice life." I am 59 yrs. old. I would like to know if these conditions are a part of the norm after this kind of surgery?

Candy2 Welcome to the board. It is nice to see someone!! I was getting so lonely. Unfortunately I have not had this surgery...yet. But I need to have my valve replaced and I have an ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm 5.0 in size. But at this time I do not have any insurance. And unless I won the lottery I wouldnt be able to afford it.

I am going to PM you because there are some folks who may be able to help you!!
