Hello,

I am Angela H. and the picture is of my family. From left to right is myself, my husband Jason, Michael age 14yrs. and John, 9yrs. We just moved back to Georgia/Florida area. We are near the florida line in Kingsland, Ga. My husband is in the Navy and we just moved all the way from the West coat/Washington state to the east coast/Georgia/Fl. area. We have been a Navy family for over 6yrs now.

I went to school in Jacksonville, Florida a few years ago for Medical Assisting. I am currently not working due to our move, but love my job. I originally started researching what was wrong with me years ago. Then, they did not know much about endometriosis and diagnosis was hard to come by. That was about 15 plus years ago. That and my grandmother having uterine cancer plus a family of CNA's and nurses put me on my quest. I never dreamed of being in the medical field at all. I exceeded in my work and loved clinical and lab work. Being age 27 and going back to school was scary but with all the obstacles I achieved it. All for the love and challenge of medicine and helping others.

I wanted to become a vet or journalist because I so love to write anything. Essays, poetry, short stories you name it. The vet thing is because who doesn't like a cute puppy or horse. I was young when I wanted these things. I got excepted into Texas A&M. It was an insult to my family being that the few that went to college went to UT. You have to be from UT or A&M to understand. I had a different future though bc my senior year I was blessed with my oldest son. Got married way to young because that was what you where supposed to do then. At least I thought, now I know different, but at least I have him and John. So, they became my lifes work and luckily I have them because I have endometriosis.

I have had it for many many years. In the beginning at age 11yrs they blamed the pain and not getting up, bleeding, not bleeding on so many different things. I was too young to know and by the time I had my first things got worse. At age 18yrs the pain elevated and so did the other symptoms. So many surgeries, hysterectomy at age 25 and now a tumor that keeps growing back on my lower left side. That coupled with scar tissue from surgeries and hemorrhage became my foe. Now we are into the chronic pain category and who knows what to do with me now. The surgeries are too many and the Lupron as well. Being that now I have osteopenia, almost osteoperosis at age 28 yrs. Oh well you can only go with it. They did not know too much about the effects and I just wanted to feel better. What else can you do?

I do not blame anyone nor do I feel that I should. Yes, I get down sometimes and many days are just ok, but at least I have my children. I always believe it could be worse and if I can help someone then here I am. I have learned so much through all of this. The main thing is what matters, to now hold anyone in account bc it can just make things worse for you, and to find the good in all the bad. Also, I could have things much much worse. So, that is why I decided to help others.

My son, Michael has ADD and is not doing well in school at all. I would love some input on anything that can help me with this. He is a teen now and he has so much anxiety bc of school. At times he just does not do anything at all. I try to remember what it was like then, but ofcourse I was not a boy. His father is not very supportive and was umm not very nice when it came to homework. I too have issues with this all the time now. I have tried everything I know to do, but it is not working. Any help would just be so grand. We are going to a psychiatrist soon. His pediatrician is very good, but he is not currently on any meds. He lost so much weight we had to take him off for a year. Since we have moved and no one seems to get he needs some sort of help. His school is not very good either when dealing with ADD students.

Anyway, that is my so called life in a few words believe it or not. HA! If anyone needs someone to talk to by all means feel free to vent. That is what I am here for. Glad I found this site and may have found a doctor that is closer for my son. YIPEE!

Angela

Thank you for joining us, Angela, and be most welcome to the MDjunction community. We surely need your extensive expertise and good sense, and it's a pleasure to read you.

I was a little shocked to find out about your hysterectomy at an age at which many women just start considering having a baby (so marrying young, see, was a bliss in your case). Your cheerfulness and aura are amazing and refreshing .

Are your son's problems only related to school and learning? Or his problems also reflect in his out-of-school activities/relationships?
