Hi amanda,

Welcome and thanks for your kind words. we try our best...

you should try to ask this question under the health topics in the forum, and give it the right subject ('kidney stone' or 'infection in kidney') that way it will stand our for the right person to answer.

good luck,

and be well

I suffered for many years with both bladder infections and kidney infections and I know how terribly painful they can be. If you seem to be having them more often then normal I would suggest you see a Urologist. Sometimes their workup can uncover a condition that makes it more easy for infections to get started. A family doctor can only provide the medications to cure it going to a Urologist may be what you need. I have not passed any kidney stones for a longtime nor have I had a kidney infection. But I did end up with interstitial cystitis that is very painful.

A book you might find helpful is called: You Don't Have To Live With Cystitis, by Larrian Gillespie, M.D.

Sometimes just a change in diet, meaning avoiding certain foods can prevent infections. Like chocolate, tomato products, orange juice, etc.. If you have any other questions let me know and I will try to help.
