Hello! I am here to talk and/or receive support for fibromyalgia. I am so tired. I am unable to sleep and when I do, my legs jump, move, stretch and even stick straight up in the air (per people who see me asleep). I wake up feeling more tired than when I went to bed. I hurt constantly and really need some relief or at least learn how to cope.

Hi, I am Woodsman. Have you spoke with your Dr. about your symptoms? I have been dealing with almost the same as you. I can suggest the following;

1. Speak with your Dr.

2. Get a sleep apnea test.

3. Ask about RLS (restless leg syndrome)

4. Ask your Dr. to prescribe Ambien CR to help you get to sleep.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I now have a CPAP machine which really helps if you stick with it. I was still having some trouble getting to sleep, so I ask my Dr. for ambien which really helps me on the really bad nights. It is not recommended for those people with sleep apnea, but my Dr. knew the benefits would outweigh any side effects. Also, I DO NOT like to take any meds that could be habit forming, which my Dr. also knows. So she trusts me enough to know I will not abuse any medication.

I do have some restless leg/numbness going on. But it sounds like you have it worse than I.

If you have health insurance, they will pay to rent/own your CPAP machine.

I hope this helps in some way. I know how it is to be so tired.

Woodsman

Thanks for the advise Woodsman!! It's strange b/c my children have told me for years that I do strange things with my legs when I sleep. They would cal it "marching". Over the past year, I have noticed it b/c it wakes me up. My legs ache so much that I can't keep them still. My mother is sick and was staying with me last week and she said that I was asleep with one leg sticking straight up in the air. Wierd huh?

The sad thing is now I realize it and it keeps me from getting the sleep my body needs. I used to laugh at my kids and tel them they were making it all up, but they weren't.

I am going to ask my doc for a sleep study. I think that will tell a lot.I do have insurance, but really hope I do not need a CPAP. Maybe the ambien when needed willdo the trick! Keep your fingers crossed for me! Thanks again for the info..
