It is truly incredible to be able to share good times and not so good times with others who face the same health challenges. And MDJ has support groups for every condition I have. I don't know of anywhere else that can offer that. I love that I can learn from others as well as offer my own experiences for others to learn from." (jaguarandcubs)

Okay maybe the problem here is that now that I am not working I have started trying to watch more TV....

Last night that ever popular medical show Grey's Anatomy aired a storyline about a living donor transplant operation between sisters. I was kind of insulted that they made such a joke out of it.

Nowhere was there any indication how serious this was, just alot of the donor complaining about what a nice thing they were doing, a bit about an esphogeal bleed after a yelling match by the recipient, and a "well we're all better now" ending after a RIDICULOUS surgery in which the surgeon spent more time singing to his wife than concentrating on the procedure.

I know it is just a dumb TV show but I hate that it made light of such a serious situation, advanced liver disease and transplantation. I had hoped maybe they would have been more realistic and serious when I read the story line was to include a LDT. That's why I watched. Boy was I disappointed. Angry

I just went to abc.com. Could not watch episode because my Internet is too slow. I did register a complaint with them how the topic was treated. Told them CBS's Three Bridges did more for transplant education in it's short time on the air than Grey's Anatomy in it's years on tv!!!!!

That's the sad thing, people who want to watch a medical show watch Grey's Academy. My take is that is more like a soap opera taking place at a hospital than a medical show showing the personal side. I've given up on it.
Peace be with you,

Mike

Way to go Daschie! I think I will go to the site also. Mike, I agree...it is a soap opera, I don't usually watch much TV aside from sports but saw in the info box that a LDT was going to be on...serves me right for watching. What a waste. And yes Polar probably my kids will think that's how it goes....sheesh!!

For a different perspective try "The Fifth Quarter" a movie, I rented it on DVD. Have a box of tissues handy.
Peace be with you,

Mike
