I have several diagnoses. Among them are stage 4 liver disease, hep c, coagulopathy, encepholopathy, coronary artery disease. diabetes, Sjogren's syndrom, and of course, cirrhosis. Within a year, I underwent 3 surgeries and was medi-vac'd from rural Alaska to Anchorage twice. I spent a total of 7 weeks in the hospital within that year. From what I here, the doctors truely believed that I would not pull through I didn't know I was sick. I got a kidney infection, the kidney started to bleed, that became immediately emergent because of the coagulopathy. My kidney needed to be removed. I developed sepsis, went into septic shock, and, after 5 weeks in the hospital with a multitude of antibiotics running via IV, they removed my right kidney, I nearly bled to death. They did a liver biopsy while they were in there and then told me my dx and said I needed a liver transplant. I was also told that I could not be put on the list because, by that time I was uninsured. I live in a very isolated area of interior AK. There is no one here with even the smallest understanding of what I have been through or what I have yet to go through. My cancer markers are steadily increasing and it seems that I'm sitting on cancer's back porch and getting closer every day. Anyone been through anything similar? |
