MDJunction to me

carmen33"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

My father when through the same episodes of HE, he did eventually come out of them very slowly and the confusion went away slowly as well. My dad eventually received a liver transplant. Do you know if your dad is on the transplant list or is eligible?

God Bless

Bryan

Welcome uk28. I will send positive thoughts to you for strength and for your dad to heal. I'm sorry you are going through this, no parent wants their children to have to endure their illness but you are showing your dad a powerful love that can't be taken away.
Journey well,
Robyn

Been to hospital to see him and he managed to fall out his hospital bed, Thank goodness he didnt hurt himself he is very confused. He now needs drained and they won't do it yet as he has not showed any sign of improvment and needs still the oxygen for his chest infection, we are not sure if he is wheezing from the chest infection or coz he needs drained or both. They can not get a line in either for the albuim for the drain so they would only take 5 litres anyway, I can only sit and watch while my dear father is dying and feel helpless. I go on Hol in 7 weeks and i am dreading it

Since has shown that every disorder and disease is associated with low glutathione. You must research it, there is so much research on it.

I am also new a visitor to this site. I am a male in my 50s (the age where most people come down with this disease)and suffering from Cirrhosis. Although my MD says that I don't have it, I know I do. The syptoms speak for themselves.. I have this itching all over my body, the bruises are on both arms and hands and the gas from the NH3 level. The constipation seems to be permanant. I took lactlose once to remedy that problem but the MD disagees and says bowel movements should occur naturally and that taking a laxative could become adictive. I suffered so far one episode of HE, where I passed out in a bar while drinking. No jaundice visible yet.

I finally quit drinking this past April. Like any alcoholic, I wish I had quit drinking much earlier than now.Quitting it anyways has changed my life in many ways. I no longer day-dream about getting a drink. I don't any longer see myself walking to a bar around 7 or 8 PM to drink. Now I seem to have more money in my pockets than before.

As soon as I read your post my heart went out to you. My dad was told ten years ago that he would not make it two years. He is 74 and doing great. I remember the days that I would be sitting with him in ICU and the docs. telling us he was "on the fence". He has not had any issues for about 2.5 years. And I have been were your father is. It is a very difficult disease to deal with on many levels. I was in and out of hospitals and experienced most all of the complications that come with the disease. I was recently transplanted on June 11th and am recovering. Just let your dad know how much you love him and need him. That's what pulled me through a lot of dark days. The thought of leaving my adult sons without a parent and my grandchildren growing up without me were my reasons to fight the fight.

Sending prayers your way.... for you, your family, and your dad.

God Bless

Thanks Mercytee thats means alot. We tell everyday we visit how mush he is loved, The hospital staff also comment how he is spoilt in hospital off us always fussing he loves it.

My dad was told 21 years ago he had the start of collitis and that he should stop drinking he however didnt then he was told bout ten years ago that he had full blown cirrohois and that if didn't stop drinking he would be in an early grave. He lessend his drinking but the damage had been done. he then went to drinking only at events eg christmas and birthdays but it for his body it was still too much. from then we have had several episodes of bleeds some big some little and controlable. He has had many episodes of HE at the mo he is still in hospital and currently get drained for the umpteenth time.
