MDJunction to me

jaguarandcubs"MDJ is an integral part of my everyday life. Since joining in 2010, I have met so many amazing people. It is truly incredible to be able to share good times and not so good times with others who face the same health challenges. And MDJ has support groups for every condition I have. I don't know of anywhere else that can offer that. I love that I can learn from others as well as offer my own experiences for others to learn from." (jaguarandcubs)

It's been over two months since I posted here, so here's an update. After the cardioversion everything looked good -- for one month. Then went into atrial flutter, supposedly this is better than a-fib because it can be fixed. I go in next Wed., the 6th, for a cardio ablation to fix that. The Monday after that I go back to see the transplant surgeon (it'll have been six weeks) and the endocrinologist. Everything is still plugging along.

Oh, I don't know if you knew, but I had my umbilical hernia fixed at the beginning of May. The incision has finally healed.

Today, all incisions healed, 105 degrees out -- I finally got to go swimming with the kids. It was AWESOME! Life is just pretty cool!

Peace be with you,

Mike

I read your journal from start to now. You have a strong spirit and good friends here.

Hope you get the rest worked out soon. Sorry it is so hot there. Swimming sounds great. Had a high of 67 today in NW Olympic Peninsula . Stay cool, get well Mike!!

Dan

I just read your journal up to now Mike it is inspiring and you are one tough guy.

I'm working very hard on never needing a transplant miracle myself, but if I ever do I'll come back and read this again. Thank you so much.

Paul

Haven't seen this one at the top in a while, thanks, Paul.

FYI had a physical with my PCP today, nothing noteworthy, and that's cool! The only interesting comments were: from the doctor "you almost died." Wow, when friends and family said that it's one thing, but when a doctor does ...! The other, the lab tech drawing blood asked if I was ever concerned a that I wouldn't get a transplant. The truth is it NEVER entered my mind that I wouldn't. There was just too much faith surrounding me.

Life IS good.

Peace be with you,

Mike

That's great news Mike, I'll pray that it stays that way for many years, at least until you're playing catch with some of those grandkids.

Being a smart alleck though when I read about your doctor telling you that you almost died, instead of thinking Wow that was really close, I thought "Yeah doc that's why they

did the transplant, you know." and I complain about my doctors bedside manner....

My daughter says it's like going to Miracle Max (from the Princess Bride) by the time they do it you're mostly dead.

Peace and Joy to All

Paul

FYI, I believe he was expressing his amazement and the miracle of how I am today vs how I was last year. He has been with me throughout since we moved to Oklahoma three years ago. In the past I would have said I was just lucky at who I picked. Now, luck? I don't think so. All of my doctors were the best I could have hoped for -- skill and bedside manner.

During the hospital stay leading to the transplant, Perri would greet the doctors everyday with "have you found Mike a liver yet?"

And at least it wasn't all dead.

Peace be with you,

Mike

God bless you
