Hi gang,

The GI doc I saw seemed to lie on his notes. I DID complain of pale stools and dark urine, among other things. Look at his notes - he even lied about it. I had to spend 180 dollars and he is the same guy that put me on high dose antibiotics.

Now on his notes he says no complaint of yellow stool, nor dark urine. What is up with this guy? Please advise.

Hugs,

Teri

Were the stools recent? I would call and ask what up with error? Look up your state and complaints. Any way you can afford second opinion? Jim did not like the way his primary downplayed his symptoms. It was costly but found the tight doctors.

Look for state and local resources for those without insurance. We had more options than I was aware.

I often find errors in the Dr. notes for my mother and I challenge them and make them correct it. The last time was just in April (I was nosing in her file while they did an endoscopy) where they had notes that I was complaining about the cost of lactulose and said that I lowered her lactulose dosage to save money...which in fact was not true. I am well aware that she NEEDS the lactulose and the cost is not at all prohibitive. I complained about the cost of a newly prescribed anti depressant/anti psychotic seraquil which was 200-300 dollars a month. In fact, the just before she was hospitalized initially in Feb. we had a Dr. appointment and they told us that since her ammonia level was low and stable that she could reduce her dosage. Well tell my mom she can reduce her lactulose and that meant to her she didn't have to take it at all, so she skipped it for 2 days and it led to 3 months of in and out of the hospital. They made those notes to cover their ass cause they know they told her she could reduce it and then she ended up in the hospital.

Hey Kris a note of caution, whatever you tell the doctor or nurse anytime anywhere gets recorded in there notes period. It does not matter if it is correct or not it is there perception of what was said and why. Learned that the hard way. Many times I get my Dr.

letters to other doctors also hospital stays ect and many times there are things in there that are not correct. If you make a big deal about it unless its something serious you will end up with reprecussions I know I did. Hopefully things will improve but I wanted people to know this really happens. Cheryl

Forgot to say since those things have occurred I now walk in with a typed list of complaints so there is NO room for error and have found it works well.

I just could not believe when I read his report sent via email - I wrote down yellow stools, dark urine, when this all started etc. I felt like he did not take these things seriously. I did call for corrections today. Not to mention the heavy antibiotic script that apparently is so hard on the liver. I wish I had seen another doc now. Oh well. Getting blood panel next week to see where that is. Wish me the best gang. Thanks! Teri

Perhaps an evil thought, but that doc might not want notes indicating liver distress on your chart if he's prescribing liver toxic big guns anti-B's. This could come back to bite him on the behind if you had problems.

Doctors are more defensive about legal jeopardy than you realize. It's a BIG part of how they practice medicine.

I get so tired of my doctor not taking what I tell him seriously. Had been e-mailing (a couple of times) med refill requests to his exam room assistant due to it taking way too long to get any action. Then after an ER stint where a CAT scan and blood work were done, I thought I would let him know I had been there so he could order the results, only to find his exam room assistant blocked my e-mails! I was so mad, I vowed to just forget it and not tell him anything. Sad
