I just had an Endoscopy Tuesday morning, looking for Varices since my platelets went down to 40,000,found none. No ulcers either or apparently any other problems in that area. So I'm really happy about that.

So the GI is sending me to a hematologist, he told me planned to. So he sends me to have another US, but this one is just of the Liver plus the blood test he has sent me for is just for AFP, He wants me to have these done before I go to the hematologist, and it's obvious it's a cancer screen, which is probably routine with this situation. So why does it have me really scarred? Plus even if I can get in for it today or tomorrow I'll still have to wait the weekend for the results. I hate waiting for results. OK I think I'm done now.

OK I wasn't done. I got the order for the blood test and US yesterday afternoon about 4 pm. The GI's nurse emailed it.

So I call radiology scheduling and the lady tells me she can't schedule it until she talks to the doctor, she wants to be sure it's just for the Liver and not the whole abdomen. I tell her the order says "Utra sond of the Liver" (yes the doc. misspelled sound, and just when I was really gaining a bit of confidence in him). But she still needs to talk with him.

Oh Well I'm just going to go after Bible study the hospital is only 10 minutes away so I just go in and hope they have a cancellation today. I"ve done it before, so I don't know why I let it bother me.

Peace and Joy

Paul

Paul,

It's a scary disease! I know everytime I have another test, even bloodwork I'm scared they are going to tell me something else....that makes it worse. I think it is quite natural to be scared, and the waiting is also awful...I'm with you there.

I'm going to spend my day hoping you can get in today and get some results!! Good ones at that Smile Smile

Tabbtech,

It must be scary going through all these tests but congratulations on the no varices. I think that in itself is a reason to be positive! Smile

Paul,

I agree with Guitar. You got some really good news with no varices or other stomach problems. I'm sure these additional screening tests are just routine. Seems to me that's a good thing as your doctor is staying on top of monitoring your liver. I wish you well and will say a few extra prayers for you today. Smile

Paul I'm with everyone else on the great news! I think when there is a change of any kind we all tend to worry and get scared that something different might be happening or something might change. So hears to nothing but good news..... Hang in there!

Well I got lucky this afternoon and Radiology was able to get me, I went right after Bible study and had eaten breakfast a little before 7, so they said come back at 3;30 and register and we'll have you done today. So I got the US of the Liver done today and the blood test for the AFP too. So now all I have to is wait. It's OK because I'm sure it's just routine before they send me to the hematologist. Then they can start to figure out why the platelets are still going down. Which I'm told they probably won't be able to figure out but the platelets will go back up all on their own. A lot relieved and thanks to you all for your kind words.

Peace and Joy to All

Paul
