MDJunction to me

mabri"When I was diagnosed about 18 months ago with fibromyalgia, I didn't know where to turn. I got on my computer and looked for a support group where I could talk to other people with the same disease and get some help...Information, suggestions, mostly just what I can do now that I have this.....disorder/disease/syndrome...I didn't even know what to call it. I found MDJ, and yes, there was a support group for fibro. I started a post, and figured I would never get an answer. However, very quickly I was welcomed in, and became really involved in the group. I received help, support, friendship and the feeling of being truly cared about by these strangers who had become like family to me. Now, I have been here for about a year and a half...I have become a group leader, and love every minute of it. It is so wonderful to be able to help others. I still receive help and answers from the members in this group. The fibromyalgia is where I go to help, support, listen, care and even laugh. I don't know what I would do without this group." There is a current discussion going on that the government and the CDC are recommending that all baby boomers get a hep c test. You can google for details. This is a good thing for them to do. Besides the blood transfusions being contaminated with aids, it also was contaminated with the hep c virus. Of course there is always the the risk that during the hippie period many people tried iv drugs. Regardless spread the word.

Hey TZU, how are your doing? Funny you should post this my Mother told me about this just yesterday and was asking if my kids got tested. Her words were "you know it causes cirrhosis like you got" I tried to explain I got Cirrhosis from autoimmune disease but she did not get it. Like so many others no one who does not have it seems to get it. I am in full favor of those T-shirts and bumper stickers maybe people would get it and get tested too. Good Post. Smile Cheryl

Hi Ladies!

I agree with testing for Hep C. So many way one can get it. I was regularly tested as working with inmates puts one at risk.....many inmates have Hep C from IV drugs, unsafe sex, unsafe tattoo practices, and they can pass it to staff easily if we are in contact with body fluids. (They like to bite and throw urine). I think as Bonnie said, so many have been potentially at risk....

I knew a man who contracted Hep C in WWII and subsequently died from cirrhosis prior to transplants being available. Never knew he had it until he ended up in an emergency room, that is what they traced it back too. Exposure during his service years.

Take your time to smell the roses, and always follow your heart.
