Cool My husband is really tired and doesnt sleep well(cat naps) but Ive noticed he is having nightmares, waking up in his sleep, he even yelled and I abt jumped out of my skin as I was starting to go to sleep. He is having really bad nightmares and thinks something bad is going on and cant tell me about it if I ask. He tosses and turns due to itchy skin and just cant get comfortable. Can he take anything for this??? Should I be concerned????
May God grant you Peace!!! Stay Strong!!! Sometimes life is unfair and bad things happen to good people in my case all too often dont give up, have courage, have faith, and rely on God!!!!

My mom is on an anti depressant (sertraline, generic for zoloft)and a 'mood stabelizer' seroquel was prescribed, but it was too expensive so we got risperidone instead. Both are some kind of 'anti psycotic' drug. but I think it does help keep her more level.

Yes, they can be used, however you need to get the right one.

I have been given clonazepam in the past and it has helped me sleep.

The only problem is that because Cirrhosis patients don't metabolized the drugs correctly, clonazepam tends to remain in our systems longer, so I was always tired and sleepy for 1/2 of the next day.

Good Luck.

Sammy

He doesn't sound like he has clinical depression so an anti depressent just to make him sleepy probably isn't the best answer. I know Gail and some others have used a Benadryl when needed to help aid in sleep. Like Sammy said, clonazepam is a benzodiazapene that is used for anxiety but could make him sleepy.

Best to ask the Hep. He may just have to weather the storm, most of us sleep like hell.

Take your time to smell the roses, and always follow your heart.

I'm on something mild-- Bupropion (generic for Wellbutrin)-- just for the purpose of evening out my emotions. Otherwise, I would go through several emotional days I couldn't explain. This is not to help me sleep but at least shows it's worth asking about.
