"I hope I'm not cutting into anyone's discussion. I am new here. I have ascites in my stomach. I don't smoke or drink, but I'm a controlled diabetic. I feel like I'm losing my mind tonight with this sudden, horrific diagnosis!"

"Imhere" just wanted to make certain others noticed your post.

I know how scary this can be. But there is hope.Depending on the cause of all cirrhosis treatment begins with removing the cause if possible. Then treatment of any complication you have.

Please know you are not alone in your fight.

When did you find out you have cirrhosis? Did they give you a reason as the cause? My husbands is from a genetic disorder.
~Nina~

My husband HAD cirrhosis caused from alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency. Received his new liver and gift of life April 10th 2013

2 Timothy-1;7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Welcome! there can be all different causes of the liver disease. Mine is autoimmune in origin. Ascitis was diminished and has been controlled with a low sodium diet. Are you seeing a hepa?

@Gail- thanks for making sure none of us missed Imhere!

@Imhere - A HUGE Welcome! You're in a wonderful place here. Everyone is knowledgable, caring, supportive and responsive and more! Make yourself at home please! Ru

P.S. Just a note - if you're wondering about the "person behind the name" just click on their name and it will shoot you to their profile and you can read their story if they've written one, read diaries, see pics, discussions they've paticipated in, etc. I like it especially if someone says what State and Country they live in so I know if we're in different time zones, in case we want to chat, for example. There are more than 700 members just in the Cirrhosis Group alone, and many are from around the world!

Remember this: "HOPE is a good thing. Maybe the best of things" (from the move Shawshank Redemption). There's ALWAYS hope!

My Dad: "Remember, it's always Darkest before the Dawn"

NOTE: for those who don't know, if you click on a member's Moniker it'll shoot you to their profile and you can get to know more about the person behind the unique avatars.
