MDJunction to me

djfilippone"Before I found this site I felt so alone.  Watching my daughter struggle with IH and being treated like she had two heads from doctors.    I have plenty of family and friends but there was nobody that really knew what she was going through.
I not only have support and love from others who will listen and share their
story, but I have made some forever friends.  Having this support site does make a difference to many.

My favorite was generic Gold Bond lotion and powder, the one in the green bottle with 2.5% menthol worked for me. I applied at 4-6 hour intervals. Then T-gel shampoo (generic) used as a body wash.
Peace be with you,

Mike

I like the gold bond for itching lotion too. I tried the T-gel shampoo but it caused a terrible rash so I use good old Ivory soap
Journey well,
Robyn

I don't have bad itching, but I get recurrent fungal skin infections on the skin between my trunk and thigh. I have to go back to the dermatologist tomorrow, so I can get more prescription ointment. if it is not one thing, it,s another!!!

I use Aveeno with menthol in it, for very dry skin and very itchy skin. It is the one with the blue label. It works pretty good but sometimes I have to take a benadryl if the itching is really bad at night so I can sleep.

Hi, I just joined this site today, so am not sure of my way around yet. Just reading randomly and came across your post.

I have autoimmune hepatitis (cross over syndrome with primary biliary cirrhosis), among other related diseases...... I tend to just think of the whole lot as one, just lots of various symptoms.

The itch! I have had the itch dreadfully at various times over the years. Finally, I tried cholestyramine (Questran Light). This worked fantastically for me. Maybe this won't be the answer for you, but I had to tell you as I was going out of my mind with itching and tearing my body to shreds. I had to my bed sheets a lot as I scratched myself to ribbons. I thought my legs would never look normal again and it so lowered my self esteem and made me feel dirty. Within a few days I felt a difference even though my consultant said it would take a month.

Over the years I have had various autoimmune diseases diagnosed including SLE (lupus), lichen planus and lichen schlerosis, sjogrens syndrone.

I dont itch at the moment so I am grateful that my hep professor helped me with that. Good luck. Wendy

Cholestyramine worked well for a long time for my husband. It can lead to constipation so you need to be careful of that.
Husband rec'd his gift of a new liver on 2/12/12. Still fighting the fight against Hep C, but blessed beyond measure.
