Saw my doctor yesterday after ultrasound of few weeks ago. Got confirmation that the radiologist read it. Says there may be some signs of cirrhosis but liver is smooth with no nodular appearance. Bili is high and platelets are low. Spleen enlarged. But Doc says if I don't drink again I have a very good chance of making a close to full recovery. I have decided, with a resilience I have never yet felt, that I am not going down without a fight. Doc says if I continue drinking I am a goner. So that means henceforth (and going back 10 days) I will never drink alcohol again. And I feel absolutely confident and, most importantly, good about this decision, where before I looked at sobriety as a prison sentence.

I know I am not out of the woods yet but I won't continue drinking which would be to surrender.

Absolutely wonderful news Cliodude: A nearly full recovery, how great is that? A few years from now you'll be remembering that you had a little liver problem a few years ago.

Peace and Joy to you
