Hi,

I haven't posted in a while but I thought I'd let you know that my father passed away peacefully this morning after a long, hard-fought battle. He was 63.

He was diagnosed with cirrhosis in December 2009 and was quite advanced at that point. He already had COPD. It's been a difficult 18 months watching him suffer and his difficult battles with HE. I don't think he really ever "got" how sick he was or the fact that his disease was terminal. He told his accountant that he wanted to see a 3-year and 10-year financial plan by next week when we all knew he wouldn't last until next week, let alone 3 years.

My dad was a highly intelligent, successful and wise man. I learned a lot from him - both good and bad.

I have spent the last week with him, along with my 6-month-old son - his only grandchild.

I'm so very sad but glad he's not suffering anymore.

Thank you for all of your support and information over the last year. It has helped me understand this disease and helped me cope much better.

Wishing you all good health and happiness.

Mary

I would not trade the time I got to spend with my sister in-law during her last days... Though they were very tough, they are precious memories to me.

(((Sorry for the pain of the loss))))

God is good and I am glad
