I had two discs removed from my neck and a fusion with allograft bone plus a titanium plate and screws and I have never fully recovered and I realise I never will. I did physical therepy for about 4 months and started feeling better but lifting anything or sitting at a computer would aggrivate it and I would be in pain.I tried chiropractic and massage therepy, but it was temporary relief at best. I started getting pain in the thoracic and lumbar areas and it was discovered that just like a domino effect the discs started bulging in those areas also. i developed osteoarthritis above and below the surgery site, cervical degenerative disc disease, bursitis, tendonitis and then fibromyalgia. All of those things led to depression and i had to quit work and file for disability which I have been turned down twice and I am waitiing for a hearing date.

Sorry, this was a long answer to a short question,

I have had 4 back surgeries in a 2 year span from Aug. 2004 til Jan. 2007. And YES I still have pain... lots of it!! I take lortab for the pain. Some days I need 1-2, other days Im taking 5 to make it through the day. When I read my first MRI results, I cried. It seems I have about 7 different issues going on in my back. We have no idea how it started so I am told I have DDD (degenerative disc disease). Its awful to have to live in pain, but the key word there is LIVE. I guess, as hard as it can be, we need to try to be positive and tell ourselves "I can do this"

Best wishes

Cath

yup, yup, yup. I had my first surgery in 1998 and the second in 2001, both lumbar area, I now have pain also in cervical...I believe it *is* a domino effect...I have DDD in cervical and lumbar, several herniated disks, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome...the list goes on. Its all about LIVING. You will learn to manage.
