I'm an Advocate

Hi, everyone, my name is Sha. I have been suffering from chronic pain throughout my body, especially in my back for going on a year. I've had the run around, I feel like anyhow, with the doctors. Had hysterectomy in March, & things have been downhill since then.

I have an apt with a new doc Monday, a pain management doctor. Don't know wheather to look forward to this visit or be scared to death. So sick of taking medication! I've got a pharmacy in a shoebox in my closet of the meds they've put me on & either took myself off of, or they did. My philosophy, 'If it's something that's not going to help, I will not take it'.

Any ideas on how to better deal with this pain would be very welcome.

My views & suggestions are from my own experience or from research that I have conducted on my own. They ARE NOT to be used as a replacement for a professional opinion, so please take them as just that.

Welcome!!!

Sorry your having to deal with so much pain. Hope the pain dr. helps..

I also have a pharmacy in my closet Cool but don't like taking meds unless i am desperate and unless they are worth the side effects so I have quite a store house. They always end up coming in handy for some thing or another.

Hi Sha,

Welcome to the group. I wish I had some words of wisdom or great advise but unfortunetly I don't. The only thing is I do have is my horrific experience with my first "pain clinic". I was nieve and too trusting. You seem to be in a better place than I was when I was diagnosed with ON in 2002. I trusted those "Dr's" and took whatever they gave me in hopes of getting some relief. It took 2 years of my life. I have no memory except for the horrible aftermath of finally getting some real help and having to go through 7 days of detox and start all over!

I would much rather feel the pain than feel nothing at all. I still have horrible days but I make sure I'm in control now and do my own research!

I wish you all the best and I'm thinking of you.

Susan

Well I know I myself have a "pharmacy" in my purse and on my counter, so I completely understand. I have Fibromyalgia and have seen you in that group as well. Everything's going to be fine. I'm still coping with everything myself. It's hard when you're in pain a lot. It's good to find people here that understand and have been there. Good luck and keep us updated on the progress. I would love to find other ways to help the pain myself. I think we all would. LOL.
