Welcome to the group, and congratulations on your sober birthday! I've been sober for 15 years; alcohol and pot. When I first started to experience severe pain due to fibro, my doctor prescribed hydrocodone. I only took it for a few months, as I knew I was headed down a bumpy road. Again, congratulations!

Hi Nicole, welcome to the group. Congratulations on your recovery! I too am in recovery from alcohol, drugs and gambling!

I have chronic pain and take heavy narcotics for it. I am under a doctors care and don't feel my recovery is in danger. I have a plan with my doctors and am being honest with myself and them about my usage. I would have never done this early in my recovery b/c I know it would have been a disaster. I think I have been in recovery long enough that I can handle this. For me, honesty is the key to not fall back into addiction. I don't ever want to feel like that again.

I also need pain medications to be able to get out of bed. Nothing I have tried has worked other than narcotics. If I find another medication that works this well, then I will taper off my narcotics and not use them anymore.

I'm so glad you have found us here. Take care.

Your friend,Chris
