Hi. I am new to this support site and find myself in a desperate situation. I live in Madison Wi and have been seeing the same family Dr for 8 years. A couple of months ago he left to work at t different practice (Urgent Care) and the doctor that took over his caseload mislead him into thinking he would assume responsibility for his chronic pain patients. I am on a lot of opiates but have been stable on these meds for years with minimal increase. The new doctor refuses to continue to prescribe my pain medications or treat me for chronic pain because he is not comfortable with it. Now I have no doctor and cannot reach my previous doctor for help and and panicking about how I can get help both to avoid withdrawl and living a life with severe osteo- arthritis without pain management. I feel totally abandoned by the medical community and honestly don't know where to turn. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on what I can do or how to locate a physician to help me. Thank you!

Kyle,

I left you a message on your profile "hug" spot.

I just hope you can find someone quick and perhaps what I suggested might be a place to start, I'm not sure.Dizzy !

Please keep in touch and talk when the need is there, ok?

Oh, and WELCOME!!! Soon you'll get comfortable with the sites. There are other forums for pain if you don't get much on this one. Go to Fibromyalgia. Not everyone has just the fibro but other situations too. When your in pain you need the support. Do you have a supportive family?

Let me know what happens, ok?

Spruce

Kyle,

I understand where you are coming from. My doctor ditched me a couple of years ago and it was actually the best thing that happened to me on my life. Advanced Pain Mangagement (608-289-1400) also know as Madison Surgi Center is where I get all my pain meds. I deal with Dr. Stauss and his assistant Kim -- how is a doll and very easy to talk to and understanding.

As far as finding a good primary, I go to Associated physicians. They are a small paractice and do a good job. Stay away from the doctror that claims to be a rheumatologist though -- bad, bad, bad. Everyone else there is fantastic.

Oh, did I foget to metion I am from Madison too.

I also see an acupuncturist who I credit for saving my life. I do not know how you feel about things lke that. I have to admit I was a bit leary at the beginning. But she has given me my life back. Her number is 608-204-7410. I am new to this board so I am hoping it is OK yo give out Drs numbers.

If you need someone to chat with or enail, drop me a line.

Take care, good, luck, and, best wishes. I hope this helps!

Kelly
