Physical Examination Done By The Physician

In addition to the detailed subjective pain evaluations

a physician should perform an in depth physical examination. This should include assessment of mobility, posture, strength,

spinal function, sensation, circulation, soft tissue quality, neurological integrity, gait, heart status and endurance. Individuals need to have intact cutaneous sensation and

circulation for specific safe and effective applications of

many physical therapy interventions. If there are dysfunctions in the sensory and circulatory systems the physician will need

to carefully select treatment interventions using safety precautions relevant to the modalities chosen.
