Hey Yall,

Just wondering if anyone else goes thru the pain of herniated disk in neck too.I had injections in between C4and C5 and C7.It gave me better range of motion for my left side.its been a year and i can tell I am needing to go back and let em look at em again to see if i need more injections.the pain is a everyday thing.I take Neurotin and soma and tylenol.

Seems like i cant take narcotic pain relievers,so far all of em put me in a very agitated mood and give me a headache.

I have taken oxicodone, loratab, darvacet.Any suggestions on a narcotic that doesnt bring on mood swings?

Also after talking to my 88 yr old Aunt last yr I take omega 3,B`s,and D a couple times a week.Seems like i feel better on the days of taking the vitamins.Or at least a lil more clear headed.

Between my husband having crohns flare ups and me being in pain, some days its hard to see the rainbow.I try to be optimistic and hopeful.Smile Smile

Hello Chronieswife, my name is Dr Patty. I am one of the leaders of this group and the chronic pain group on mdjunction.

I do not have neck problems (luckily), but I believe you can have symptoms very similar to a herniation in the lower back, but going down your arms.

It is nice to hear that you are taking supplements. It can't hurt.

Welcome to our wonderful group!

Yes I get the headaches also. I am irritable too but I blame it on the pain not the meds. maybe I need to pay attention to a pattern? Hope you also have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthier New Year!!! So glad you posted again! Denise

Hey there,

I don't have disk issues that I'm aware of, but I do get migraines (have since the age of 8), and I have neck and back problems, as well as pain in my right knee, right shoulder and elbow, and both wrists and hands. It's very difficult to deal with pain every day. On the pain scale, I wake up at about a 3 to 4 every day. To me, that's usually a decent day. Isn't that kinda pathetic? LOL

Hope you can get some things to help. I can't really recommend much in the way of a pain reliever, altho I do know of some natural and alternative therapies that are supposed to help. If you're interested, you can send me a PM, and I can try to help you--of course, you don't want to use anything without talking to your doctor and/or pharmacist and making sure nothing will interact with your meds, but I'm willing to try to get you the info. I've been using alternative methods for years to try to help.

*hugs*

Just because it's impossible doesn't mean it can't happen.

I'm not a doc, so anything I say is my opinion only. Nothing I say is meant as offense, I offer what I can as help. I believe in educating myself on all my medical issues and being my own advocate, for no one else with do that on my behalf. I recommend we all do the same!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

Something has changed within me/Something is not the same/I'm through with playing by/The rules of someone else's game/Too late for second-guessing/Too late to go back to sleep/It's time to trust my instincts/Close my eyes and leap...I'm through accepting limits/Cuz someone says they're so/Some things I can not change/But till I try I'll never know/Too long I've been afraid of/Losing love I guess I lost/Well if that's love/It comes at much too high a cost/I'd sooner buy Defying Gravity/Kiss me good-bye I'm Defying Gravity/I think I'll try Defying Gravity/And you won't bring me down...
