Hi, I'm Mae and I've had chronic fatigue since I was in 5th or 6th grade, I'm now a Junior, I was wondering if anyone else has huge tonsels from CFS. My doctors said it was from CFS. My throat is also oddly red and I always have cold like symptoms and drainage from this. I've had this problem since I got chronic fatigue syndrom. Does anyone else suffer from this also?

I'm an Advocate

Hmm... Interesting. I know I have always had infections, bronchitis, and things like that, but I've never had enlarged tonsils, so I wish I could help. I do still have my tonsils, but IDK... Sorry, sweetie! My infections have also always had to do with my Lyme disease, so I can't attribute it to the CFS... *hugs*

Just because it's impossible doesn't mean it can't happen.

I'm not a doc, so anything I say is my opinion only. Nothing I say is meant as offense, I offer what I can as help. I believe in educating myself on all my medical issues and being my own advocate, for no one else with do that on my behalf. I recommend we all do the same!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

My 15 year old daughter has CFS just since January of this year, and she was having sore throats every single day. Her tonsils didn't look good - with tonsiloliths or abscesses, so at the doctor's suggestion she just had them removed in October, which seems to have helped the daily sore throats. I don't know if the CFS caused her problems with the tonsils or if the timing just happened to coincide with the onset of the CFS.

Hi PrincessMia, and welcome to our group.

I'm here only because I believe I have CFS. I've never been diagnosed with it - yet, anyway. I am not aware that CFS causes additional problems, like those related to the tonsils. However, two things are coming to mind.

One is, I know of a couple of people who contracted mononeucleosis and ended up with CFS afterwards. Mono, as you may know, causes severe sore throats, and I believe also includes tonsil problems.

The other is, I suffer from Fibromyalgia and belong to that group as well. Many people on that group have tonsil troubles. However, one of the things Fibro is infamous for is causing other ailments.

Not all that helpful, I'm sure, but maybe something to think about or ask your doctors about.

And Mae...I'm glad you're joining in now. Smile

I had mine out when I was 2 so no help there. But, I have had mono 6 times in the past 8 years. My hematologist runs a EBV titer test. It tells more that the Mono Spot test does. It will tell (mainly over time) if you have Chronic EBV.

Hello PrincessMia,

I had my tonsills out when I was 14. I don't think they have anything to do with CFS. Score throats are one of the markers of CFS. Check her throat, you should find "red cresants" in her throat. They are on both sides and mine are located where my tonsills used to be.

If you go to the library and look through books on CFS you can find more info on it.

Good Luck,

Shirley

Hello MKwhite613,

First of all, welcome. Second, I'm sooo sorry you were so young when you were diagnoised with CFS. It's the pits no matter how old you are.

Sore throat, one of the markers of CFS. My tonsills are out so I can't help you there.Check your throat. Another marker are "crimson cresents", they are on both sides of the throat. Mine are located where my tonsils used to be. "The presence of these singular deep red cresents may be diagnostic of CFIDS because they have been noted in up to 90% of patients".

Just like your throat drains since your onset on CFS,my right ear fills with fluid. My eardrum broke and I have had three ears surgeries because of it. I'm ALOT older than you and have to have a tube in my ear. Each one of us has something peculiar that is just ours. Not everyone has the same symptoms but we all have the same effect.

Have you checked out books on CFS? Try the library or book store. There are alot of books on CFS. They talk on symptoms. Maybe that will give you some insight on whats going on for you. Doctors do thier best, but may not be up on the current findings. Also check the internet for information.

This is a great space to find that you are NOT alone.

I wish you the best,

ShirleySmile
