Gallbladder problems and high lipase level?

Hi. I have been having classic gallbladder symptoms: pain under right rib cage, pressure in middle of chest radiating to back and right shoulder blade--these things usually after eating. I had ultrasound and HIDA scan that came back normal. I then went to a specialist who told me these tests are unreliable, and he was pretty sure it was my gallbladder. They ran blood tests. I just found out that my lipase level was 76. They say it should be below 60. So my question is what does this mean?...

I too have had quite a few of the symptoms you have mentioned. I was diagnosed with Diverticulosis about a year ago and believe me it has been puzzling trying to figure out what foods are my triggers. What I wanted to mention about your symptoms was that, years ago they started the same way. Sometimes the pains were on the right side but the worst flare ups were on the left. I too have suffered from Acid Reflux probably 15 years now and I discovered about 6 months ago that Apple Cider vinegar el...

Hi - it's me again...

I got many PMs from members asking to upload their own videos. At this point we can't add to the library . but hope we will be able to soon, we understand the importance of that!

and another (not related) topic...Two weeks ago we added to the (now available on chrome too) the Groupon application that shows you the hottest daily deals in your town, every day. We received great feedback from the people using the toolbar so I suggest trying it out!!!

After being out of the hospital a few days and recovering well I have started the low fat diet. I have four pages of things I cannot eat! It's challenging to grocery shop a whole new way but it can be done. So far all is going well with the diet and I have had no trouble digesting without pain. If anyone has questions regarding the diet please PM me. I'll see if I can post it on this site. Good luck to those of you who are still figuring out what to eat and what not to eat. It can be a pai...

The only real sign I had cholecyctitis was daily vomiting for six months. I had no pain or tenderness which probably postponed my diagnosis for so long. I was exhausted physically however, probably due to not getting enough nutrients. I feel fortunate I didn't have to deal with the pain involved however, one episode would have been great over six months of vomiting. Just a thought Take careT....

It depends on the severity of your disease and your doctors. There are other methods of treating colecycstitis as mentioned above however these may not work for you. I would seek the advice of a surgeon as well as your internist to see what your options are. Meanwhile how are you dealing with the pain? Take Care T...

Hi all I just got out of the hospital a couple of days ago after having my gall bladder out. My symptoms were vomiting every morning sometimes 5 and 6 times for a period of six months. I've had the work up of an eighty year old woman. They thought I had a brain tumor, then stomach cancer, then esophogeal cancer, etc and so on. I had an upper GI wich showed moderately severe GERD (really, after throwing up every day for six months!). Finally I suggested a hydrascan which showed severe cholec...

Hey I generally hang out in the RSD group but I am sort of desperate.

My six year old princess is having terrible problems and it has gotten worse with exploding bowel movements.

Ever since we can remember she has had 'adult poop'. My wife and I would always ask if it hurt. My goodness it was something adults could not do.

So we put her on special diet making sure she got whole grains and stuff like that. This was according to our doctor who we reported too about this situation.

Cholecystitis is described as an inflammation of the gallbladder, which is a small organ near the liver that plays a part in digesting food. Usually, a fluid called bile passes out of the gallbladder on its way to the small intestine. If the flow of bile is blocked, it builds up inside the gallbladder, causing swelling, pain, and often an infection...
