I have been having classic gallbladder symptoms: pain under right rib cage, pressure in middle of chest radiating to back and right shoulder blade--these things usually after eating. I had ultrasound and HIDA scan that came back normal. I then went to a specialist who told me these tests are unreliable, and he was pretty sure it was my gallbladder. They ran blood tests. I just found out that my lipase level was 76. They say it should be below 60. So my question is what does this mean?... I have four pages of things I cannot eat! It's challenging to grocery shop a whole new way but it can be done. So far all is going well with the diet and I have had no trouble digesting without pain. I had no pain or tenderness which probably postponed my diagnosis for so long. I was exhausted physically however, probably due to not getting enough nutrients. There are other methods of treating colecycstitis as mentioned above however these may not work for you. I would seek the advice of a surgeon as well as your internist to see what your options are.
