I was recently diagnosed with chlamydia. To be completely honest, I was shocked. I haven't always exercised the wisest decision making, but I haven't been with too many men and I have always trusted (or so I thought) the ones I was with. And then the test came back positive.

What really gets to me, is I can't figure out who I got it from. It could have been as far back as 3-4 years ago. I talked to my doctor about it and he doesn't think it was that long ago or he thinks I would have shown symptoms or been in pain by now, but all the research on the internet seems to say otherwise.

I want to handle this responsibly. I'm worried that if I have had it for years, that I've got PID and don't even know about it. How do I know if I should be worried about it? Is there anyone to find out if I am sterile? Do you think if I'd had it for that long I would have noticed it sooner?

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there, iv been in the same situation as you and the only way you can find out is by a HSG x ray - the thing is the docs will only send you for one of those if you have been trying to concieve for 6 months or more. I feel very frustrated as i want to know now. I would book an appointment and chat to your doc - i did and he made me feel better.
