Who said they were proud of you? Who gave you acceptance? I hope there was somebody.....I think in this topic we should pay due to the people who were the tiny ray of light in our dark dark childhood's. (and yes Donna, you gave me the idea Smile)

The most positive person in my life as a child? It would have to be one of my mom's coworkers, Ms. Mary. I adored her, and she never made me feel like I was doing anything wrong.

The most positive person in my life as an adolesecent? I'd have to say it was my high school's special services coordinator, who became my high school mentor. Could come into her office ranting and raving and within five minutes she had me calmed down.

It was my Jr. High Science Teacher. He allowed for me to think beyond the limits while every other teacher had 'boxes' students had to fit in. From just one of 500 or so students I became the one who brought a G.E. Genius and a G.M. Mark of Excellence Awards to our school.

All the staff thought he was a young 'Hippy Dippy' but the students in his class mostly loved him.

My mother.

No matter what she went through to protect us from the evils in our lives she was always there to lift us up off our feet and teach us to believe in ourselves and to move on past the traumas in our lives. Watching her throughourt my life I have learned that I am a person that deserves to have a good life and I can't let anyone take that away from me no matter how much they hurt me or try to hurt me. Be strong in your heart and you will be strong in your mind.

I'm a recovering self injurer (clean 5yrs about),have Severe tendonitis, Sinusitis, Asthma, Allergies, Insomnia, RA, Fibromyalgia, TMJD, MDD, and a host of other traumas I have overcome throughout my life.
Im not an expert, but I have been through hell and back with medical procedures and medicine treatments.
Im getting my degree in Pharmacology, and want to learn more about how these problems can be treated.
My worst enemy is my health, and I believe I have the strength to not let it get me down.

I'm an Advocate

I have to say that the most positive person in my life today would have to be my sisters. My oldest sister, Sabrina, was imprisoned just last year, when she found out she had throat cancer. She's been through all the chemo & radiation, lost all of her hair, which inspired my sister, Marci's & myself to shave our heads to support her. She has now been home for almost a year, & has been hospitalized numerous times for pneumonia, but has stood strong through it all, & remains very positive. She has a clean bill of health now, & is striving for independance, something she has never had.

My other sister, Marci is the strong one in our family. She has been our shoulder to cry on. She's been here for me through my sickness, checking on things everyday, providing financial support when we needed it, emotional support when we needed it & when we didn't. She, too was imprisoned, & has been free for two years.

These two women are extraordinary, even through all their trials & tribulations, & for that, I am eternally grateful.

My entire family have been addicted to various substances, from alcohol to meth, among other varioous drugs, but have remained strong & have stayed clean, even through all the stress of having illness running rampant in our families.

One other person I'd have to say is my greatest streangth is my dad. He was dxd with colon cancer 3 years ago, but has beat it & is so strong & supportive of all of us.

As a child, I can't say that I had anyone possitive until I was in my teens. I didn't have any of these wonderful people in my life, & I needed & wanted them so much, so I am eternally grateful that I have persevered long enough to have them in my life.

One more thought: my reason for existing today, through all the rough times I've been through in my life, & the illness I am currently batteling are my six awesome boys. Its them that have kept me going for the past several years. If I didn't have them, I may not be here today. When I felt like I was @ the end of my rope, all I have had to do is look @ them & they gave me the streangth to hold on & fight my way back.Smile

My views & suggestions are from my own experience or from research that I have conducted on my own. They ARE NOT to be used as a replacement for a professional opinion, so please take them as just that.

The most positive today? my 12 Y.O. son, "The Budster". Absolutely breeming with energy and ideas. My days are going to be interesting for the next few weeks, to say the least. Tongue
