I'm so stupid. Don't eat Twizzlers. I can't believe I did that. I just assumed they were gluten free--like taffy or something. First ingredient is Wheat Flour.

Also, watch out for those delicious seasoned french fries. They use wheat flour to batter dip them and give that extra 'crunch'.

I had great results using finely ground almonds to bread Eggplant Parmesean and Fried Chicken recently. I used my coffee grinder to make 'flour' from them. Just add a bit of cornstarch and it works great. Also works great with Sunflower seeds and Pumpkin seeds. I plan to avoid gluten free flour mixes. It's just more highly processed, nutrionless starches that I don't need. But, I do think I'll try that Betty Crocker Cake mix for our next birthday party! (Thanks for sharing Robkel).

Okay...also, don't eat tator-tots or preformed hash-browns (that I love so much)! I can't believe I didn't think to check the label. Some things you just never even consider it possible that they might contain wheat!

I have a great 'recipe' for a flourless chocolate cake.

4 eggs separated

4 oz. dark chocolate

a bit of sweetener (your choice. I use stevia powder and 1/3 cup of brown sugar)

1/4 cup of melted butter

1 tsp vanilla

a pinch of cream of tartar

(optional: I like to add a 1/3 cup of almond flour and a splash of strong coffee).

Prepare a cake plate by rubbing butter on all the sides and dusting it with white sugar.

Melt the chocolate. Mix that with the butter, egg yolks, sweetener and vanilla (as well as coffee and almond flour if you choose).

Add the Cream of Tartar to the egg whites and Whip until hard peak stage.

Scoop out a third of the fluffy egg whites and fold into the chocoalte mixture. Then fold the chocolate mixture in with the remaining beaten egg whites. Don't over mix.

Gently pour into the pan. Sprinkle with white sugar.

Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes until a knife inserted comes out clean.

Serve with whipped cream.

i love tots too don't get the cheap brand i use orlea I think that's what it's called. That's the only brand that doesn't make it with wheat. I have tots at least once a week. My husband gets tired of them so it but cajun seasoning with a little garlic seasoning and a little shredded cheese to spice it up once. They were good. Just read the labels at the store. I never have any problems with the brand or'lea here in California. Let me know if your try any of the other brands of betty crooker. ok....

Do you know if fast food fries are made with wheat as well? They have more crunch and a different texture inside, so I've begun to worry. I really should check more. My abdomen seriously swells out when I make a mistake and it seems to take over a week for it to heal again.

Thanks!

some are. You have to check with the resturant. the problem is that they fry the fries in oil with flour or they fry the fries in the same oil as they would chicken nuggets or fried zuccini or onion rings. So your get your cross comtam. You can call ahead a ask how they fry. I hit or miss. You also have to make sure that when its done fring that they don't use the same tray when the food is drying/cooling. There have been times that i'm eating fries and when i'm half way through it there's an onion ring. And i know i'm gonna be sick. I've been to ihop and dennys and they fry in 100% veg oil no flour and use seprate fryers for the fried chicken and onion rings. I hope that's helped a little.

go on line and you can look up the ingredients to anything that a restaurant makes if they are a chain. I know that wendy's fries are gf and so is their chili.

My Doctor says I can have the waffle fries from CHick-fil-a and a chargrilled chicken breast. I eat there 3 times a week with no problem,
