Hello..I did well with what I ate when first diagnosed Celiac. I basically ate fruits and veggies, so, the first few weeks I lost some weight and felt better. I needed more variety and bought pre packaged gluten free foods and did not realize how high in fat and sugar they were. So now I have gained weight...plus more than my baseline. Does anyone have a celic plan to loose weight? I need to prepare foods more and take some weight off. Any ssuggestions? Thank you!

I am new to this disease, but have already been struggling with the same issue. Because I was on weight watchers in the past, I have learned that I have to keep a food diary and track my caloric intake to keep myself from gaining weight. Of course with weight watchers it is a specific point system, but a dietician may be able to help you determine your caloric intake and assist you with a good plan. I think the hardest part is getting enough protein and fiber while focusing more heavily on fruits and vegetables. It doesn't matter if you have to eat gluten free or not a more whole food diet is always best. Processed food of any kind always adds fat and calories. I think the key is knowing when you are going over your daily intake and the key to that is tracking. I know, one more thing to keep track of right?

Weight Watchers has a publication about their program and celiac disease. Since you eat your own food it fits well. I have lost 13 lbs in a little over a month with no issues with gluten . You may have had a weight gain as a result that your body is absorbing more food the way I did. I have to track my carbs bc of diabetes and I found I now need less food. I agree Fresh is Best. Processed food also has sugar and fat but also a risk of cross contamination I have seen foods labeled gluten free but in the fine print it is processes in the same plant with wheat and not recommended for celiac disease patients.

over the past 3 years I've lost 24 pounds and then this past month (pre-hospital) I lost 10 more.

btw, does gaseous behavior count in the celiac world?
