MDJunction to me

cinderella"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

I can tell within an hour if I've been glutened. Here's the scenario for when I get a tiny amount of cross-contamination gluten.... I start to feel nauseous almost immediately, and the nausea intensifies as pain in my abdomen starts to build, and within two hours I will be confined to the bathroom. Trying not to scream with pain, fainting from pain, curling up in a ball on the floor, and you all know what else. That part of the illness lasts for about 4 hours, give or take. Then I am so tired I can sleep the clock around (12 hours). Fatigue and digestive upset last for a few days, and sometimes linger for months. Intolerance for dairy and high fiber foods is quite bad at first, but tapers off slowly after a few months.

I get abdominal spasming within 30 to 60 minutes and as the day goes on all muscles cramp up, skin gets sore to touch, feel like i have the flu, hard to walk, fatigued, RA joint pain and swelling gets worse, vision gets blurry, all until I end up in bed and in the bathroom for 3 hrs first thing every morning usually waking with a migraine, vomiting, brainfog, and all the symptons from day before. I am new to the diet so i don't know how long episodes will last. I have been like this daily for 3 yrs but already noticing improvement from the diet.

Has anyone found any type of remedy that helps to relieve the stmach/ab pain issues right after they start?

My son immediately knows when he has gotten into gluten. he has stomach pains, explosive diahrea, his skin starts to break out in little sores, his mouth itches and he wants to sleep all day after finally getting out of the bathroom. then the next day he is tired but doing much better. but the symptoms that you experience is dependent on the extent of your allergy. my dad doesn't have such a severe reaction. but he has been gluten free for 20 years. the doctors say that not all allergies to gluten are the same and some are not as severe, so the symptoms depend on the individual.

I never had symptoms like that, but for abdominal pain which I had very badly OUCH a heating pad would help some to just sooth it.

Some people who have celiac never even have symptoms you may not be horriblie sick or you may not think about it.

It depends for me on how much wheat I eat. For a year before I was diganosed with celiac, I was up vomitting every night (It would only last until I got it all the wheat out of me), sleeping all the time (before I went to work, during class at school, having afternoon naps all the time, which was unusual for myself, being a hyper and very upbeat, outgoing girl who never slept before). I also got very bloated and gained a lot of weight.

Now, after 2 years of being diagnosed with celiac, when I eat wheat, I get bad diahrea, I get gasy, I get horrible stomach cramps and abodminal pains, and again, depending on how much I eat, I do still vomit. But I rarely do anymore. It comes out the back way most of the time now, and now when I eat wheat, it lasts for days, at least 3. So it really sucks when I eat something I think is okay to eat and it ends up not being okay.
