HI... Well welcome to the group... I understand what you son is going through ...I use to as a child get up to 20 at a time...It made it impossible to eat and just sometimes talk..... I have every treatment known to man at that time..... If I can ......see if your doctor will prescribe this med....Desoximetasone GEL USP, 0.05% make sure that it is the Gel.... the cream is terrible.... Take it and put it on like 3 to 4 times a day.... right when you first start to get a canker sore.... and it might help... I use it and it helps me and my kids who also have them.... a lot... Usually in two to three days they will be gone.... and even when you have them ...it makes it possible to eat ... after a treatment... it does not taste good,...and it will hurt when you first put it on.,... but that is better than having them for 2 weeks.....

This is just an idea, I am not a doctor.... I am just a suffer like you with canker sores....

when my canker sores act up with my auto immune disease my doctor gives me a oral steriod(prednsone) and a gel that really nips it in the bud.
