I am currently taking 10mg of Lexapro. It def seems like it has made me have a tendency to hold onto more weight. I tried weaning (too fast) but had severe vertigo and nausea so I went back one. Not sure it's even helping. Anyone recommend a good SSRI for bulimia? I am seeing my therapist in a week..just curious to see what has helped others! Thanks

Welbutrin is a good medication if you can tolerate it. It makes me anxious on too high of a dose, but if anything it causes some loss in appetite (an effect which has totally worn off of me now!!! ). Good luck! Let us know if you find something or if you get your meds changed.

You can search online about the class and chemical compounds. My doc prescribed it for my anxiety (after about breaking down in his office) when I had explained to him about what I was going through with my daughter. I admitted my bulemia to him, but that was really a side thing as I could tell he hadn't really dealth with eating disorders. The med apparently doesn't make you gain weight like some of the others. I just didn't like the way I felt flat, but what doesn't work for one may work for someone elseSmile))

ah okay, I see. I didn't realise that they could prescribe medication for bullimia. I always have been told it was just councilling and stuff like that. None of that has helped me, and the doctors know that, but they never mentioned any medication. Smile

Lexapro didn't help me at ALL. And, it made my gain weight (or maybe my metabolism is slowing down after having a baby 11 months ago or all of the above). I have been on celexa for a couple of weeks now and feel GRAND!! And, I have heard it could make you gain weight (but my therapist assured me it won't). In my opinion, I don't care. I just want to be at the weight I am meant to be at..and be happy! Can't believe a drug works so well! Wish I would've gotten on this years ago!!
