Full Catastrophe Living is an awesome book!!! It's basically an 8 week program in book format for people who cant get to the clinic in MA. It's worth a shot... nearly anything is.

I get therapy and a psych through the state, so I am fortunate. Being SMI has it's benefits as well...

I do alot of self study too... and of coarse meds. But meds feel like a lost hope for me... 12 yrs of no luck with every combo I have tried.

Maybe someday.Ermm

DX: Bipolar 1 with psychosis, BPD

Lamictal
Klonopin

DBT therapy

Hoping and praying this combo of meds will work... I've tried every med under the sun.

pixisprkl, this is a great book and Mindfulness is at the core of DBT, so needs to be learned and practiced to understand and learn DBT.

You are absolutely right. Practicing it is the hard part.... but when I do, I notice I am much quicker to realign my thoughts when they go haywire.

Unlike tonight when I can't sleep...even after taking sleep meds. hahaha

I've taken Lexapro, Prozac, Paxil, Xanax, Atavan. Prozac makes me numb, Lexapro isn't strong enough and gave me really bad negative thoughts and, uh, visions? and I've been on 30mg of Paxil for quite a while. The Paxil has worked out pretty well but it isn't strong enough for the mood swings, it only helps with my major depressive disorder. The mood swings are reduced a little bit because I take a very low progesterone birth control to attempt to balance my PMDD-like symptoms (Nuvaring and/or Yaz).

The birth control + antidepressant really helps me a LOT but it just does not get help the intense mood swings that are triggered by social situations.

Xanax is lovely but I used it as a crutch to numb all anxiety in work situations. It's addictive for borderlines, imo.

Wellbutin 150mg in the AM and Ativan as needed (but usually 1-2 0.5mg per day).

DBT group therapy 1x per week and individual therapy 1x per week. I am just getting started with a new therapist who deals specifically and exclusively with personality disorderes. I will let you know the type of therapy he is providing.

Mowgli, your treatment plan sounds great. Glad you have it in place.

I have been recommended to a cbt doctor, but his site does not mention personality disorders, so that's one reason I am hesitating calling. He was a cbt trainer at the Beck institute, but I don't know. It difficult for me to cold call.

I also see a EMDR certified therapist who follows the EMDR protocol. (I have chronic PTSD.). We are just getting up and running, so no EMDR yet. I see her weekly, and she is very helpful.

My meds are in my signature. As far as cycling, so far, the Emsam doesn't seem to make me cycle like pristiq (snri) did. The risperidone helps with this, and my pdoc is keeping tabs on me. I see him weekly or every ten days, but have been gaining some stability, so may not need to go as frequently.

I also go to a DBSA support group. Anyone can go; it is not BPD specific, but they accept everyone under the sun. So many that go have overlapping dx's.

Hi Smile

I am one 150mg Wellbutrin XL and 15mg Remeron. Not sure what the Wellbutrin does, if anything, because I don't feel any relief to the sadness. The Remeron definitely helps me sleep but gives me CRAZY dreams and sleep talking. I should start a dream journal and then entertain you all with my nightly adventures LOL! It has also increased my hungar to the point of being ravenous...

I think I am coming to realize that no pill will make what I feel go away, therapy seems to be the way to go...

150mg Wellbutrin XL
15mg Remeron
