[b]My now 18 yr old step daughter has been diagnosed with bpd for almost a year now. this is a very serious disease. It is so harmful to those affected by it and those hwo love them. I have raised her son since he was born adnhes now 3. She is getting worse and no one seems to know how to help her. I fear the worst for her and her manipulation is beyond belief. There is never any way to know the real truth. Help please, any suggestions appreciated. Yes she is medicated for it, it isn't helping.

My mother was very supportive and always reminded me that I was the only one who could control myself. The meds will not do much until she understands that they can only help her to do the work that she has to do. This is very hard to face and even harder to believe. I spent many years feeling that I could not do anything to help myself. It was a disease and therefore it wasn't my fault, my responsibility, or within my power to effect any changes what-so-ever. Happily, now I know that's a delusion - the mental illness speaking.

Hopefully some other parents will get on and tell what's working for them.
