Wondering if anyone has read this book about chronic suicidality by Joel Paris? I am going to check it out. To me the title is a bit misleading but he is a well-known author on bpd.

I haven't read the book. Keep us posted on your perspective of it as you read! If I get some time, I might do a little research on it!

I have not read that book, but I have a book I found I got a lot out of many years ago.

Veronika Decides to Die, Written by Paulo Coelho.

I would recommend any of his books, he writes in such a way that you connect to the story, he also wrote the book The Alchemist, which is just so beautifully written.

Light, That book sounds disturbing. Is it? Is it all about a person's plannning her own death?

I am about half way through this book now. I still think the title is a poor choice, that there may be a comforting aspect of *thinking* about death from a distance, but for me at least, really *being* suicidal is very different and has nothing to do whatsoever with love or any love-like feelings. It is sheer torture for me and this title may reinforce some people's disbelief that a person can actually be suicidal so much of the time.

I do think he makes a lot of good points, such as repeated hospitalizations not being helpful as well as medication not being the central way to treat bpd. Also, he believes a certain amount of acceptance of people's suicidality is necessary to get at what is beneath it and try to improve quality of life.

It is the author Paulo Coelho he is an amazing writer, I have gained so much understanding of life through reading his books, I am not a big reader in any way, but have read a lot of his books more than once, I would highly recommend "The Pilgrimage" to anyone and "The Alchemist".

"Hi Light" (brings back memories of Highlights Smile ).

I went on Amazon and unfortunately read a review of that book which kind of gave too much away. But a lot of people were saying the same thing about the author. I generally have poor concentration but I am going to check him out. Thank you! I always need recommendations. I hope you are feeling ok.
