HI, I was diagnosed on monday as having borderline personality disorder and am just digesting this, but from the research I have done I am sure that I am an "acting in" or "quiet" borderline. I am trying to find out more about this and was wondering if anyone has any information please.

thanks

Did you want to find out more about the acting in vs acting out, or just BPD in general?

There really isn't a large amount of information to be found specifically on this topic. I'm sire there are more resources that have information within them. A lot of the information just has it all together instead of separating the two. From what I understand, when a person is an "acting in" borderline they are more likely to blame themselves and self-harm than they are to take it out on other people. I found a few articles and a book. I will see if I can get more info later on for you, but right now I have to answer some more posts and get to some homework.

peaches261, Wow thanks so so much for your time and finding out this information. I really appreciate it - have not even told my family yet, so thanks for the support, it means a lot. Hope you are ok and take care.

I think I have been acting in for years, and that is why I got diagnosed with BPD in 2010, because I have been brushing things under the carpet for years and not dealing with issues and finally the fuse blow and I started acting out.

It has took me two years to get any relief from what I have lear'nt in therapy. Still have bad days, but instead of getting angry with people, I ask them to explain what they mean and usually it is me that has taken what has been said wrongly. By going that I usually calm down, but other times I just loose my temper.
