I've posted here that I was going to tell my suspicions to my pdoc about BPD. I was fearful for many reasons. I had already told him (he's new) that I had what I thought was 'affective instability' and it was difficult to make out the bipolarity issuses from this other instability. He was fine with this.

Sooooo. This week I spoke to him about BPD. His response was very positive. Whew. He just kept talking and acting like he always does except maybe a liitle brighter. He's going to set up some (hopefully) well-fitted cbt for me (not much dbt happening here).

Overall, he was actually praiseful. And positive.

My therapist continues to be helpful. Right now, she is encouraging me to remain focused and yet open and not calcify around BPD as another identity. She understands there are biological reasons for BPD as well as circumstantial, and as a person I am greater than any dx, disability, or mistake. (It's I that am preoccupied with mistakes, not her.)

Jeez-Louise everyone, I wish us all the best on this journey.

I also thank those that have held my hand the past few days.

I am heading into what I call my dysphoric time of day. Evenings are usually difficult for me. Right now I am tired and overwhelmed, and those are all normal feelings and sensations.

Thanks

Ermm

I'm glad things went well with your pdoc. It sounds like you have a really good treatment team on your side which can mean the world when it comes to your improvement

I'm not a doctor or a therapist, I'm just someone who is working on my issues just like everyone else. I can, however, offer support, understanding, and opinion from personal experience.

Whew! What a relief that your pdoc responded so well! I know you were concerened about that. I am glad you will be getting CBT therapy. I am skilled in it and it has helped a great deal. Do they not offer DBT? DBT is an important part of treatment for bpd. No worries if they don't offer it. There are several workbooks and websites that can help you learn the skills of DBT. That is how I have learned mine. Thanks for sharing part of your life with us! Smile

Hey, thanks for listening. No, no dbt in my area. My doc and therapist are looking.

Besides, my therapist does EMDR which we are not ready to try yet. She moves slow and that is very fine with me. I have PTSD, too.

We'll see. A work in progress, yes?

I have heard about EMDR but don't know much about it. I have symptoms of PTSD as well. There is a Bipolar and PTSD group here if you are interested in joining. Smile
