I was diagnosed with blepharitis several months ago - I had a big bump on my right eye. So my opthamologist told me it's not likely it would ever go away and that he could remove it via outpatient surgery. I opted to change my diet and now the bump and symptoms are gone. Don't let these doctors fool you. Those eye drops they prescribe are BAD for your eyes. They never mention anything holistic. All I did was eliminate all the junk food, white flour products, poultry, canned foods, processed and packaged foods... sugar and hi-sodium foods... replaced with ONLY vegetables, fruit, whole grains, some fish and a little dairy.

Yah I have to say from personal experience that diet was a major factor in really helping my blepharitis. I cut out caffeine first, then sugary drinks, then all candy and eventually all snacks. I lost weight after a while and I feel my blepharitis very little even without doing a cleaning routine. I think a huge thing for me was also the reduction in dandruff that accompanied the loss of the extra weight and sugar. Occasionally I drink a sugary caffeinated drink and my bleph comes on full force almost immediately.

Please find the video on blepharitis and see my reply. I explain my personal experience with the condition, and diet had absolutely nothing to do with treatment or prevention of this very annoying eye condition.

Where you see videos, search for Blepharitis Video, which will display, followed by my personal comments and experience.

Dear All,

Three different ophthalmologists diagnosed me with Blepharitis and prescribed the usual treatment regimen including eyelid scrubs, steroid drops, etc.

Unfortunately, it only got worse over the years. My eyes were always red - my co-workers probably thought I was drinking or smoking (I wasn’t). Dark bags under my eyes made me look 20 years older than I was, it was terrible.

After suffering for five years I decided to read everything that I could find on Blepharitis and found two guides that changed my life! The first was an ebook written by Dr. Banerji called “How to treat Blepharitis & Eye Allergies and live symptom free”. I found it at blephguide.org. The second was written by Dr. Latkany on dry eyes.

After reading these two books, I actually made an appointment in NYC to see Dr. Latkany. It turns out that while my symptoms were that of Blepharitis, eye allergies was the primary cause and was contributing to my problem. I then tackled my eye allergies with the help of an allergist and an allergy shot regimen, and after six months am finally living symptom free!

I truly wish the same relief for everyone that reads this posting.

Blessings to all,

Christine A, Florida.

Christine

Had you tried any allergy treatments previously? My 5 year old son has been treated with steroids as well as allergy drops and liquid claratin but without much success. We are currently treating with the baby shampoo wash twice a day but things are getting worse. His eyes are so sensitive to the light. I'm really worried about it affecting his vision and how he'll be able to cope when he goes back to school in the fall.

thanks

Barb

Hello Barb,

Sorry for delayed reply (life got in the way), and very sorry to hear that your son is dealing with this condition. I had not tried any allergy treatments previously, other then zyrtec. My only feedback would be from the ebook at blephguide.org The doctor said that if you are not finding solutions, continue to seek out specialists (in and outside your area) through referrals until you find someone that can help. Also, eyelids are so sensitive that when I was rubbing/washing too much my eyelashes were worn to the nub. Now that the condition is under control, my eyelashes have returned to normal healthy lengths.

Best wishes, Christine

Hello Barb,

Thanks. Apart from the allergist did you try anything else once you knew it was an allergy i.e diet, air filters etc

Christine—thank you for the information on Dr. Latkany in NYC. I just made an appointment to see him. I've been living with blepharitis for about 5 years now, and while I can manage it, it's really annoying and my eyes are constantly itching and dry. I had to stop wearing contact lenses and massacre totally. Which really doesn't make me a happy person.
