Hi, I'm recently diagnosed with type II, I won't go through the whole shpeil, but I'm actually doing better with the diagnose because my depression diagnose had never made sense to me and now I understand what's going on in my head. Wow, I can write a run on sentence. Wink Anyway, that's my abridged story I guess.

welcome to the group. It is a relief to get the "diagnosis". It truly is the first step to feel better. A pice of adviced I recieved after my diagnosis keeps things in perspective it might be a help. Our pdoc is going to do chamistry expreriments until they get to your cocktail of meds which work best. As difficult as it will be try to stay open minded and full of faith, it will help on the dark days and the great days. and know that normal for you is special and distinct for you. Best of luck in yoour journey to wellness.

It does help and is a great relief to get the right Dx. Now I hope you get the right meds to help you cope with life.

I actually had the same issue as well. Depression diagnosis was not giving me the right meds. Now with the type II diagnosis I do feel better than I did because of the med changes I believe. Good luck.

I was also dx as depression, but to no avail. Once dx as bpII, I refused the dx. I have since accepted it, and will stay on my meds, if I like it or not...

I was first diagnosed with major depressive disorder with GAD at age 13 with first episode aged 10. I wasn't diagnosed bipolar till 19. They say it takes on average ten years for bipolar to be correctly diagnosed with most people only seeking help when depressed, because as we know, no one wants to admit something is wrong when manic.

Im glad you now understand your illness and heres hoping meds suit you =)

★210mg Lofepramine ★ 30mg Abilify ★ 300mg Lamictal ★ 50mg Phenergan ★ Ambien 10mg ★

Any advice given is merely from my own experience as I am not a mental health professional, psychologist or psychiatrist.
