Hello. I've been absent from this site for months due to my inability to stay focused on my wellness program. On Monday of this week I checked into a mental health facility for a 72-hour hold as I was suffering from a debilitating depression. I checked out this morning, feeling centered again if not entirely 'cured' (of course) and I'm ready to rejoin all of you here on MDJ. I feel terrible for my absence and hope I can stay focused and attentive from here on out. I've missed you all...

Eddie, I'm new here. Just got home today from a 4-day inpatient stay at a psychiatric hospital. I have bipolar type 2 disorder, rapid cycling, mixed episodes, and worse. I don't know what a wellness program consists of but I probably need one. My ability to focus shifts quite often and I'm not getting much of anything done. Glad I found MDJ though. I wish you the best. Patte
For BP II:
I am currently managing to maintain a semblance of sanity taking
Risperidone 0.5 mg in the a.m.,
Risperidone 1.0 mg nightly, and
Clonazepam 0.5mg nightly

Extensive talk therapy keeps my head above water while the meds keep me splashing merrily along.

Was taking lithium, lamotrigine and lorazepam but those have all been discontinued...for now. At one time, I also took Abilify (caused extreme tremors) and Zoloft (caused extreme auditory hallucinations).

Thank you Patte. A 'Wellness Program' is just my way of describing my process in dealing with my BP in a positive and constructive way, and I agree, developing one of your own is a good idea. The best method I can think of coming up with your own personal plan of action is to work closely with your P-doc and therapist (as well as members of any groups you may belong to) to see it through. It's not always easy finding a system that works for you, so be patient and try as many routes possible in finding one that you can successfully follow through on.

I hope your stay in hospital was beneficial to you and I applaud you for recognizing the need to check yourself in. For me, hospitalization comes as a last resort in dealing with my problems. I'm glad I have, and recognize, the importance and value of that option for me in dire times. I certainly hope you found the assistance you felt you needed and that all is well with you now.

Good luck to you in your search and in your process in finding the right path to wellness. Feel free to add me as a friend and keep in touch.

- Eddie
