Never had a depressive episode where I felt like getting drunk. But I am. Ugh.
Isn't it nice to know that tomorrow is another day without any mistakes in it yet?

My meds as of now:
Lamictal XR 200mg
Pristiq 50mg
Klonopin 0.5mg twice a day
Seroquel 100mg bedtime

I am taking a shot in the dark, but I will venture to say that it did not really help. Maybe numbed you, but did not take the depression away. It's still there and I am sorry you are going through a time of depression. Have you told your pdoc about it? Your medications could be adjusted and pull you out of it. Alcohol is a depressant and will only make it worse. See about getting your medications adjusted and if you go to AA, get to some meetings because they will help even if you are depressed.

You're absolutely right. It didn't help. I felt bad even while drinking. I've been to some AA meetings. My PDOC does know and she does remind me that it's a depressent. I'm sorry to all of you. I feel like not only did I let myself down, but I let you all down. I'm sorry.

PLease don't feel like you let us down. You didn't. I am concerned that you don't beat yourself up over this. You realize that it doesn't help and now you have renewed effort to stop drinking. Just get to some meetings and forgive yourself. Today is a new beginning. It's one day at a time.

Bipolar meds and alcohol don't mix and can be dangerous. I have a heart damage from doing it and now need a pacemaker to keep me alive.
You are not drunk unless you have to hang on while lying on the floor.

imjustme, Uppity and Bangbang are right.

What matters now is what you do from here on out.

This is your story about your recovery, not ours. Everybody has their own story.

I got sober with the experience, strength and hope I found in AA.

You might find some of the early inspirational material helpful in our thread called, "Inspiration, AA Stuff, Humor, & Odds 'n Ends."

I look forward to getting to know you better through your future posts.

Bipolar II, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Attacks, Agoraphobia & PTSD; Alcoholic in recovery since 3/21/07.

Aplenzin 522mg; Pristiq 200mg; Lamictal 400mg; Geodon 160mg; Ativan 1mg TID; Deplin 15mg; Xanax PRN; Metoprol 100mg.

Just keep in mind tht the next time you want to drink with your meds it could kill you.

In order to keep drinking at bay, try eating some hard candy. Alcohol has a lot of sugar in it and the candy can give your hands and mouth something to do besides drink. Sounds silly but it really does help.
