Bipolar Type II Support Group

So I'm bipolar and lithium carbonate works great for me. However I can't take it orally because I get bad stomach problems. I also get really bad side effects from antipsychotics (I've tried them all) and lithium doesn't come in any other forms (like injection). So I'm wondering would crushing Lithium up and putting it in a marijuana joint then smoking it get it into my system? I don't care if its bad for my lungs because I'm going to commit suicide if I don't get on medication... I'd rather be happy and have bad lungs then be dead. So would smoking lithium work?

I wouldn't recommend this. I suggest that you talk to your pdoc instead so they can make appropriate med adjustments and/or changes.

Please don't do that. On one hand someone with bipolar probably shouldn't be smoking marijuana at all, but definitely shouldn't smoke lithium. Have you tried the extended release? That is easier on the stomach. Have you tried taking it with milk? That also helps. Do not smoke your meds! Talk to your doctor.

Please do not try this. The drugs are in pill form for a reason and could seriously do damage if taken any other way.

Lithium is a salt, and would not work well at all as an inhalation product in my opinion. Most salts have high vaporization temperatures, something that would not be reached in the process of burning an organic compound.

EDIT: Lithium Bicarbonate melts at 723C, and actually breaks down as a compound at 1310C, so the liquid would burn through the bottom of your mouth and drop out on the floor, and the vapor isn't even the drug you need anymore.
