I saw my pdoc today and after trying what seems to be EVERY medication on the market without success, he decided to try me on Fanapt. Does anyone have any experience with this medication? Any side effects? Most importantly, does it WORK for treatment-resistant BPD-2?

I tried both Fanapt & Saphris with no good results, they are similar chemically though you never know when one molecule will make all the difference. Can't remember what happened when I took it I just know it didn't work. I ended sticking to Zyprexa. May not be the most ideal drug in the atypical-anti psychotic group but it works well for me. Actually its the only one that works for me, I've already tried the others, even old school ones like Haldol. Blink

Hope you have good luck with Fanapt, I know its expensive.

peace & hugs

Yikes! I've been on everything and the only med that truly worked for me was Seroquel - until I started having nasty side effects like shortness of breath and incredible weight gain. I had to switch to something else - I tried Zyprexa but it didn't seem to make a difference. For some reason my BPD-2 is resistant to treatment, which is very frustrating!!

Hi.

Did you try mirapex.

I guess you tried seroquel

And I also read that for woman t3 augmentation can help.

Also if you can push yourself lifting weights can help.

So if even this drug will not help I bealive that maybe you can find something from this list.

I really hope you will feel better.

Shay

I haven't tried mirapex, will talk to my pdoc about it because nothing is working at this point. Sad

I was cutting back on my meds and it was helping some but I Lost it yesterday and was obsessing over a situation at work that I have no control over.Unsure

Boy do I know about obsessing. I do it so much about things I have no control over either. My brain does not stop, its exhausting.

My husband says just stop and let it go. Boy do I wish I could do that, but my mind does its own thing.

Mirapex is A dopamine agonist, this could explain the effect on bipolar & treatment resistant depression. It doesn't act on Norepinephrine like Provigil did. So far anything I have tried that messes with Norepinephrine I have really negative side effects and end up not taking it.

Mirapex gives me some hope that all is not lost Smile
