Bipolar II ForumsMedicine & TreatmentsJust started Seroquel

I have bipolar 2 and my pdoc just started me on Seroquel because I was having trouble with tremors from Depakote and Geodon and I wasn't stable anyway. Well last night was an interesting experience. It took me awhile to fall asleep even though I was expecting to be knocked out based on what I've read about this drug, and I woke up a couple of times, though I went right back to sleep. Today though I just feel super hungover. My stomach is upset/I have no appetite, I didn't get out of bed for good until about 1:30pm, and I feel like I could go back to sleep right now. Is this normal? My pdoc started me at 100mg and wants me to increase to 200mg in a week. I'm hoping that I can function earlier in the day because I'm starting my job as a camp counselor this week and I'm gonna need to be up early in the morning (around 6am). Anyone have experiences with Seroquel? I'm really hoping that it works because I've tried a lot...Lamictal, Zyprexa Depakote and Geodon. And if it doesn't work out, I don't know what I'll do...I'll probably ask to go back to Zyprexa because I absolutely loved the way it worked, I just didn't love the weight gain.

All I remember about Seroquel when I took it is I slept all the time. It does work for a lot of people. It sounds like you have a back up plan, so that's good. I'm crossing fingers that it will work for you!

Things are a lot better now. It was really just the first couple days that were bad. I'm feeling decent, and my tremor is going away.

I was on Seroquel, but I was only on 20 mg. After a couple weeks I ended up going off it because it seriously affected my sexual abilities, and I'm not okay with that. Watch out for other side effects that may kick in after a couple weeks.
Latuda - 40mg
Wellbutrin XL - 75mg
Ambien - 12.5mg

When I took Serious I slept constantly. Also at night I tended to go manic.

I've been taking it for a little over 2 weeks now and I have no side effects whatsoever and I feel like it's doing its job.

I couldn't stay awake while on Seroquel - and being a widow with four young children, being SO rediculously sleepy all the time simply wasn't an option.

Good luck!

I couldn't get enough sleep or claw my way out of the fogginess of Seroquil.I've taken Abilify as an alternate, but it doesn't have a generic yet so it's quite expensive. There's also Risperidol. There's a good chance your tolerance to Seroquil will increase. If not, you do have a lot of other options. The hard part is the time it takes to figure out which one works for you. Side effects rarely jive with real life - like working. Good Luck. I really hope this medication works out for you.
Jennifer

150mg Lamotrigine
450mg Lithium
.5mg Lorazepam
.5mg Xanax
10mg Ambien

My wife is on seroquel and has to take another drug in the morning to help her wake up, I always wonder if that is a good thing to have one drug counter act the other and sometimes neither work all that well and are they really do what they are supposed to be doing?

But she has tried a lot of the alternatives and nothing seems to work better than the seroquel right now. And the fact that it has a generic really helps with the cost.

I've definitely adjusted to it. I can now function normally during the day with no hangover effect or anything.
