MDJunction to me

MissNikkiAnn"When you have an illness with the name "Non-Familial Dysautonomia" (a name that most people, and even doctors, have never heard of), you need a network
of people who understand the name and the symptoms/issues that come with it.
MDJunction led me to that network of people during a very confusing and sickly time. For this I am thankful. And for this reason I try my best to give back to other members the same care and help that I received through MDJunction.

i have been on antidepressants for 17 years. i was misdiagnosed for 20 years as Major Depressive Disorder. i have started taking Lamictal and am doing pretty well. not perfect. but pretty darn good for me.

the antidepressants do not make me manic at all.

i am considering trying to cut the SSRI. has anyone done this after getting a diagnosis? i seriously doubt that they are doing *anything*. i would definitely wait until i'm at a therapeutic level of lamictal. just wondering if anyone has done this successfully?

ps~i totally understand that i would have to titrate down slooooowwly. Sick

I'm an Advocate

I wouldn't, but then again I am on depression, thyroid and lamictal. So, I wouldn't cut any of my meds since I have no idea what would happen.

[Charles Wallace possessed by IT, says to Meg]: ‘Mrs. Whatsit hates you,’ Charles Wallace said. And that is where IT made ITS fatal mistake, for as Meg said, automatically, ‘Mrs. Whatsit loves me; that’s what she told me, that she loves me,’ suddenly she knew. She knew! Love. That was what she had that IT did not have. She had Mrs. Whatsit’s love, her father’s, and her mother’s , and the real Charles Wallace’s love, and the twins’ and Aunt Beast. And she had love for them. But, how could she use it? What was she meant to do? If she could give love to IT perhaps it would shrivel up and die, for she was sure IT could not withstand love. But her in all her weakness was incapable of loving IT. But, she could love Charles Wallace. She could stand there and love Charles Wallace. Her own Charles Wallace, the real Charles Wallace. I love you. Charles Wallace, you are my darling and my dear and the light of my life and the treasure of my heart. I love you. I love you. I love you." (228-229)

I would suggest you titrate down with the observation of your doctor. Some SSRI's are very difficult to withdraw from. Good luck in whatever you decided to do.

Bupropion XL 450 mg
Clorazepate 30 mg (for anxiety)

I tried to cut mine down even on lamictal and I couldn't. I only did it with my pdoc's supervision and advice though.
