Abilify and Prozac?

I've been taking Abilify for Bipolar 2 but today I was prescribed Prozac to go along with it. Do these two meds work well together? I'm slightly nervous to take it due to the fact of going manic the first time I took an antidepressant, Paxil, alone.

I'm not sure how these work together, but if I were you I might talk to my pdoc about adding a mood stabilizer as well... just in case. Let us know how this is working out for you.

Hugs,

Susan

I agree that a mood stabilizer like lamictal might help you from going hypomanic while taking an antidepressant. It helped me anyway.

I've been taking it for two days and so far so good, although I know it takes time. Doc said that the abilify should act as a mood stabilizer along with the prozac and that I shouldn't go manic.

I have been on Prozac for month, but it is not the first time I have taken it. Starting on Abilify soon and quite nervous about the terrible side effects. Let's hope they make friends and do their job!!

I've never heard that abilify can act as a mood stabilizer. Good luck on the meds.
