I don't watch much TV, but I was at my dr for my session and when we discussed how I was not doing so hot, she told me about a new drug that is just released that may be able to take the place of both my drugs...I didn't get the name of it as of course it was something funky, but she said that it is being advertised quite heavily...In preparation for this, she has decreased my effexor and increased my Lamictal and to be honest, I have already felt better. My husband was doing little things that would set me off. But this morning when I asked him if he had packed our son's bag and after my son left I found his folder...Two days ago that would set me off on a rage, this morning I was like "oh well" I couldn't believe it.

So anyway does anyone know what this drug is and have any info on it?

Hey robin, I don't know what the new drug they are advertising, but if your Lamictal is working for you, I don't see why your doctor should change you.. perhaps all you needed was the adjustment.. I would talk with her about it.. the one commercial I keep seeing is for bipolaroptions.com. I've tried to get onto that website several times and haven't had any luck, but they do offer a 800 number if you can catch it on tv, you could call them and have them send you a information packet.

Hello Robin, glad to hear that you are doing better with the adjustment. Pristiq, which is what I'm taking is apparently new, but I'm not sure if it's being advertised or if it's what your doctor is talking about. Abilify (not sure if that's how it's spelled) is one I've seen on commericals lately.

But I'm gonna agree with Carmen. If the adjustment is helping that may have been what you needed. I'd tell your doc that the adjustment seems to be helping with your anger and see if you can try the new doses before switching.

I've only been through two different meds, but I know everytime it's been changed I feel like I'm playing russian roulette with meds.

Take care,

BD

Hi,

New to this group. Wondering what people's experience with new meds like Pristiq have been. I've been in the depressed phase for far too long and desperate for help. I've been given many different diagnoses from candida to lyme disease to major depression to BP. Sometimes I just can't stop crying and can't seem to think straight, confused and forgetful, suicidal thoughts, not sure what to do with myself.

Any suggestions or shared experience would be helpful.

Many thanks,

Allison
