MDJunction to me

Macv"For me, MDjunction has been a place where I can share my experiences
living with the very rare bone disease called Ollier's ( Enchondromatosis ) with the parents of children recently diagnosed. I can help them not to run
into the pitfalls my parents did when I was young, give them a bit of a view
from their child's perspective and simply be there to offer support and
hope to people who are scared and just had their lives upended. I also belong to a chronic pain group and it's been a Godsend to be able to actually
talk with others who understand what I'm dealing with. Besides them helping me through my tough times, I can be there to help them as well. Here too, I can use my years of experience to help others avoid pitfalls and it makes me feel good, gives my life more purpose. MDjunction brings people
together when their suffering, at their darkest and feeling alone in this world and allows some light to be brought back into their lives. HOPE, that's what
MDjunction means to me!

I was just diagnosed a week ago as Bipolar II (in a serious depression). I started meds on Thursday (July 28). I started with Seroquel 25mg at night, and Wellbutrin XL 150mg in the morning. Today my Wellbutrin XL was increased to 300mg.

My depression is gone..and I think the anxiety is too. But I'm dizzy, drowsy, have nausea and diarrhea. Sometimes I get flushed/hot.

I'm assuming these are all regular side effects, but how long will they last? I'm scared to drive, feeling like this...but I can't just stop driving forever!

My doctor initially wanted to start me on Lithium, but I am hypothyroid already, and I guess Lithium could worsen that?

Thoughts?

I am on Wellbutrin and was on Seroquel up until this week when I am starting a new antipsychotic. I have had some of the same side effects, but nothing lasted very long and I am perfectly fine now. I would advise giving it some time, but if they don't go away, contact your pdoc... and welcome to the group. We have a good support system here. It's great to have you.

Thank you! I called my regular psychiatrist today. (It was a different psychiatrist who prescribed my meds over the weekend). He isn't too happy with this combo, so he told me to go back to 150mg Wellbutrin, and increase the Seroquel to 50mg (eventually getting up to 100mg). I gathered that he plans to take me off the Wellbutrin soon. That makes more sense, according to what I've read. I've been spacey all day, so hopefully decreasing the Wellbutrin will help with that. But of course, increasing the Seroquel will probably knock me out for a few days.

Not looking forward to all this, but I'll do whatever it takes not to go back to that depression. I just hope we find a nice set of meds soon that don't make me feel spacey all day.

I'm on lithium (1500mg) and wellbutrin (300mg). I used to take seroquel until I had a seizure and gained a ton of weight. In my opinion, seroquel is some awful stuff. I have a thyroid condition as well and have taken lithium for years. I take levothyroxin for the thyroid and its fine. I didn't step up near that fast on the wellbutrin, maybe that's why your not feeling well. Seems like they should allow more time to see how your responding to each medicine, instead of adding and increasing so much so fast!I get the same treatment as well, but I tell my Dr. I'm tired of changing my meds so much. All the side effects are killing me. I can't function like a normal person. Some things take some time before you see results and therefore they shouldn't be adding more before they see the results of what your already prescribed. Don't take any more than you must! I lost 1/2 of my hair, gained 100 lbs, seizures, severe nausea, severe heart burn, dizziness, drowsiness, I lactated (and wasn't pregnant) I went through a zombie like phase where I existed, but didn't realize. Your kidneys and liver can fail, so be careful. I hope you find the right mixture and feel normal while on it. It can take a few weeks at times. Tell your Dr. everything of course, don't wait it out. I did and I lost my hair so bad it took a year to grow back. Best wishes and good luck.
