Wellbutrin and Zoloft vs Celexa

Does anyone know if you can take a ssri with Wellbutrin? Also what differences would there be between Celexa and Zoloft? I took Celexa before and I felt it allieviated my depression much better than the Zoloft seems to be doing.

Can you just arbitarily switch, or do you wean off one and go on the other?

It all depends on the person I have read a couple articles where it was used as an add-on to an SSRI. If going one to the other your pdoc should give you instructions on ow to do this safely. I was on Zoloft for years and had a heck of a time weening off of it. Not everyone has the same reaction.

What was it like weaning off it? I'm taking 100 mg now but I've only been on it this time for like a monthish.

I just can't go on like I have been. I need some level ground.

I take both celexa and wellbutrin Sr, they work great for me but I'm not sure if every pdoc would take that chance. Good luck to you! I hope you find the right meds soon

I used to take Zoloft and Wellbutrin and they worked well for me. I went off the Zoloft because a higher dose of Wellbutrin worked even better. Stopping Zoloft cold turkey can have hectic withdrawal symptoms, the one time I ran out of meds for two days I was like a junkie without a fix. But when I weaned off it properly, I cut from 10 mg to 7.5 for a week, then down to 5mg for a week. After that was fine. But please do this with your pdoc. Just switching from one SSRI to another is not a good idea unless a pdoc says so. As Rick said, everyone has a different reaction; Celexa did absolutely nothing for me while Zoloft then and Proozac now work very well. Wellbutrin is still my all time favourite Wink

I hope you and your pdoc find the right mix soon.

You were only on 10 mg of Zoloft? That seems crazy since I was taking 150 at one point.
