MDJunction to me

Sylvia4648"I have suffered from depression most of my life, but had some long, non-depressed times. The last 16 years have been an on-going, constantly worsening nightmare for me medically, socially and with my family. 11/2008 to the present has been the worst time in my life, and new things just keep piling up. During that time I’ve gone from being mostly homebound to being totally homebound due to the errors of about 2 dozen doctors who overmedicated me so badly that I came home w/ 4 conditions I didn’t go in with. I spent months wanting to die, and finding MDJ may well have saved my life. It’s one of the worst feelings to know that nobody on earth needs you for anything; but now that I’ve been a group leader for awhile, there are people here who need me. Thanks MDJ." (Sylvia4648)

I think I am having a problem with Adderall. I have been taking 60mg of Geodon at night and it has really helped me a lot. I had to stop Lithium because it was making me depressed.

But I have been taking Adderall and I have been loving the motivation (been working out) the focus (getting organized and getting things done).

The problem with Adderall is, I think, unfortunately, that when I don't take it I get depressed and irritable. And even when I do take it, I can be irritated by the slightest things, usually by my husband. I think and I know you all will say, that the Adderall is causing some mood instability.

Ugh, I hate that. Adderall even gives me a lift in my mood. But then when I am not on it, life is difficult.

I need to stop the irritability, not fuel it with an amphetamine.

My fibro doc or pain doc refused to rx Adderal for me. I'm rx'd nuvigil or provigil for chronic fatigue issues. It helps tremendously without any irritable phases or feeling jittery. It is not an amphetamine, so I guess that's why.

I am on Dexedrine which is an amphetamine like Adderall. I only take 30mg, which is a small amount, so it doesn't affect me with my anti-psychotic and mood stabilizer. Maybe lowering the dose would help. I'm no doctor though. I would discuss this with your psychiatrist. It does sound like it is affecting your moods. I wish you luck.

Joy, there weird thing is that I am only taking 5mg - 10mg a day of Adderall (a baby dose), but I do feel it. If I took 20mg or 30mg I would probably have a heart attack or stroke.

Either the Geodon isn't keeping my mood stable enough on the Adderall or I am just hyper-sensitive to the stimulating effects of the Adderall.

Even when I added Lithium to Geodon, the Lithium made me depressed after several days, so I had to stop the Lithium. For some reason, Depakote and Lithium make me depressed.

Maybe you need more Geodon then. Talk to your psychiatrist about how you are feeling. I used to take 40mg Geodon in the AM and 40mg in the PM. It really is a good drug. There is a mood stabilizer called Lamictal that is a good mood stabilizer.

I really like Geodon. I take it at night and it really helps with sleep. I have been sleeping great. BUT, I have been off Adderall for 4 days and I am miserable. I don't have any energy or motivation to move out of my chair! I am wondering if I need a small dose of a mood stabilizer during the day (something that doesn't make me sleepy and fat) so that I can still take a small dose of Adderall.

Adderall has really helped me. Plus, it lifts my depression. Not sure I can give it up.

I guess I need to talk to my doc about possibly taking low dose Lithium with Adderall? Or maybe another mood stabilizer during the day? Tegretol or Trileptal?
